As a physiotherapist of 28 years and a “hands-on” moving and handling advisor for 20 years, Elizabeth Hallows has been writing expert reports in the medicolegal field since 2006 and completed the Cardiff University and Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate in 2010. She receives instructions by solicitors acting for claimants, for defendants and is also jointly instructed. She carries out the following types of expert witness work:
Elizabeth assesses the client, usually in their own home, Identifying and costing the moving and handling needs of clients who have suffered serious and life-changing injuries. Elizabeth is able to comment on the number of support workers the client requires for moving and handling support.
Causation and Liability Reports
Where injury has been caused as a result of moving and handling by nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or support workers, Elizabeth reviews the records, identifies the key issues, refers to best practice publications and draws reasoned and well-explained conclusions on causation and liability.
